PTG Meeting

Tonight (Dec. 8th) is our Winter PTG Meeting at 6:30 pm. We will be drawing the winners of the Giving Basket Raffle during the meeting. Your last chance to purchase raffle tickets is at 6:15 pm. They are $1 each or $12 for $10. Thanks for supporting Southgate students and the Giving Basket Raffle!

In addition to drawing our raffle winners, we will be planning future Southgate events and discussing technology needs in the classroom. Childcare is provided. See you there!

Winter Giving Baskets

We are only days away from Parent-Teacher Conferences, which means we only have a few more days to complete the Giving Baskets. Please look for your child's classroom on the list below and consider donating an item or two to the basket based on the classroom's theme. No item is too small to contribute!! Please send items to school NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 15th. If you have any questions about the theme for your child's classroom, please contact the teacher or parent coordinator.

The Giving Baskets will be on display throughout conference time and into December in the Library. Raffle tickets will be available for purchase during conferences, at the Winter Family Night on December 1st, and at the December PTG meeting on the 8th. The drawing for the baskets will take place at the end of the PTG meeting.

Proceeds from the ticket sales will be given to Southgate families who are in need this holiday season. This is a wonderful opportunity to share the holiday spirit and help support our fellow Southgate Dragons!!

Winter Giving Baskets

Southgate PTG is again partnering with Mrs. Shelp and the classes at Southgate to give back to families in need. Each classroom will put together a fun themed basket that is then raffled off right before winter break. All money raised is donated via Mrs. Shelp to Southgate families who may need assistance this holiday season.

The baskets will be on display in the hall in front of the library during the conference days. You will be able to buy your tickets throughout that week and at the winter family fun night in December. You can examine each basket and only buy tickets for the basket(s) you are interested in. Tickets are $1 each or 12 for $10.

Box Tops

Box Tops for Education has helped America's schools earn over $400 million since 1996. Clipping Box Tops is a small way you can make a big difference at Southgate. Box top coupons are on the packaging of hundreds of participating products that you probably use every day. All you need to do is cut them off of the box they are on, stick them in a baggy and send them to school with your child.

Our October Box Tops classroom competition is in full swing! The competition will end on October 24th. The classroom that collects the most box tops will earn a party of their choosing so be sure to write your child's classroom # or teacher's name on the bag with the box tops you turn in.

Our new school is looking great and it's almost time for our Back to School Night!

The PTG welcomes all who want to be involved with Southgate students and help make Southgate a great place for our children to go to school.

The Southgate PTG is currently seeking parents to fill the open positions for the following board positions and event chair positions for the 2010-2011 school year: President, Co-Vice President, Jogathon Co-Chairs, Carnival Chair, Box Tops Chair, Field Day Chair, Winter Family Night Chair, Readathon Chair, Sherwood Forest Wreath Sales Chair, Volunteer Coordinator, and Assembly Chair. If you would like to nominate someone you think would be a great candidate, please email PTG at southgateelementaryptg@gmail.com by Friday, June 3rd. The PTG nominating committee will correspond or meet with potential candidates.
